About

The Vienna Fringe Festival is a new international platform dedicated to the bold, the immersive, and the independent performative arts. It follows the concept of the Fringe Festivals around the globe, as its goal is to give the stage to performances „at the fringe“ of theater. In a city world-renowned for its classical heritage, the Vienna Fringe promotes genres that overlap with nonconformism, creating a flow between tradition and the avant-garde.

we invite you to be part of this new chapter in Vienna’s cultural history and to join our community.

THE VIENNA FRINGE MANIFESTO

1. We are here to connect, not just to consume.

Art is best when it’s shared. The Vienna Fringe is built to be a space where strangers become familiar faces, and where isolation takes a back seat.

2. Leave the bubble at the door.

Of course it’s nice to bring a friend or a partner. But if you spend the whole evening only talking to the person you came with, you’re missing half the magic. Turn to your neighbor in the queue, chat with the artist at the bar, and say hello to someone you’ve never met.

3. Look up, look outward.

We don’t live in a vacuum. Vienna is tied to what happens everywhere else. We reject apathy, self-absorption, and detached voyeurism. True art confronts the world as it is, and we invite you to engage with global realities with genuine solidarity, curiosity, and respect for other human beings.

4. Light on the earth, heavy on the experience.

We believe that caring for the world means keeping our footprint small. The Vienna Fringe is built on a simple, sustainable rhythm: every single one of our venues can be reached easily on foot or by public transport. What is greener, simpler, and more human than experiencing a city on your own two feet?

5. Open minds, open spaces.

Curiosity is our favorite currency. Step into performances, conversations, and encounters without pre-judgments. Here, it is completely natural to be open-minded, because we are all navigating the human experience together.

6. No walls.

Festivals shouldn’t be cliquey. Artists, crew, locals, and travelers—we are all part of the same temporary community for these few days. Grab a drink and stay a while.

You belong here.
